What is the melt method?
There are so many reasons we experience pain with a wide array of sources such as an old sports injury, an auto accident, side effects of medications, or simply sleeping wrong, but a common factor amongst them all is stress.
The MELT Method® (MELT®) is a simple self-treatment technique to help you get out of, and stay out of, pain. MELT® aims to improve performance and eliminate the mental and physical stress that accumulates daily before it causes persistent pain and dysfunction. Using soft rollers and balls, MELT blends mindful meditation and breathwork techniques to help boost the body's natural healing mechanisms with self-myofascial restorative techniques that simulate hands-on therapeutic practices to:
-
calm the mind and ease pain symptoms
-
improve heart rate variability
-
target fascia's supportive qualities
-
restore joint centralization and stability
-
improve sensorimotor control
How did you first get involved with melt?
I’ve been involved with MELT® for over a decade now!
I first began my journey with Pilates to address back pain, and after teaching for three years, my muscles were stronger, and the pain was drastically reduced. But I still had the occasional flare up. That’s when a friend, who was already a MELT® instructor, introduced me to MELT® and I knew it was a game changer as soon as I tried it. The goal of MELT® is to help you get out of and stay out of pain, which is exactly what it did for me. I happily use MELT® in my everyday life, and it helps me to not only stay out of pain, but feel great too!
is melt like yoga, pilates, reflexology, or physical therapy?
While MELT® does complement and enhance exercises like yoga and Pilates, it is not an exercise program itself. It’s better to think of MELT® more as a means of support alongside your regular workout routine! Using MELT® can help to enhance the results of hands-on therapeutic interventions, including reflexology, massage, bodywork, physical therapy, and mental therapies as it simulates these types of intervention. Using MELT® between physical therapy sessions (or between exercise sessions!) will prolong and support your overall treatments.
Why shouldn’t you MELT®? It’s easy, fun, effective, and only takes 10 minutes a day to help you feel your best. Best of all, MELT® and Pilates are a beautiful complement to each other. The MELT Method® helps to improve flexibility, alignment, posture, joint mobility, sleep, digestion, and overall well-being, all while reducing aches and pains, wrinkles, tension and stress, and risk of injury. Let me teach you how to MELT® and get you feeling fantastic!
